My hometown, Kediri

MY LOVELY HOMETOWN, KEDIRI

Do you know Kediri? Emm, it may not too famous one as Surabaya or Jakarta. Kediri is a small city in East Java. The population is not too high. It is famous because of its traditional foods, historical places, and local tourism.
First of all, Kediri has many famous traditional foods such as pecel Kediri which well-known in some places out of the Kediri. Also, Tahu Kuning (Yellow tofu) which is produced in Pattimura street. There are some types of Tahu. For instance, Tahu Kuning, Tahu Bulat and another food that made of Tahu is Stick Tahu. Many people who come to this place always buy as a gift for their family or their friends.
Kediri has rich story about the past kingdom. Dewi Sekartaji is a famous one. She is a princess of Gajah Mada. Therefore, it is undoubted that Kediri has some historical places such as Dewi Sekartaji Swimming pool and statue of some kingdoms. Also, Kediri has a popular river, that is Brantas river. It divides Kediri to two, East Kediri and West Kediri.
Another factor that make Kediri famous is its local tourism. First is Poh Sarang Church. It is the biggest church in East Asia. It has a lane that shows Jesus’s step trhough the hill, named Cross Street. Second is SLG (Simpang Lima Gumul). It is an icon of Kediri with the huge building in the center of the road in East Kediri thus all people who pass east road can see this icon.
I really love Kediri, inspite of its culture, this city is not a melting pot city so there is no traffic  congestion in the main street. People can acces the public facilities easily and quickly.there are not many food hawkers on the street which may cause traffic jam as in other metropolitan cities.
Kediri has health environment. The air is so fresh because it nears Kelud Mountain (an active volcano mountain in East Java province). It has good system to cope with garbage problem. Moreover, the air is fresh due to a good system of the gutters. Water flows from the housing to the river through this gutter thus there will no flood when rainy season come. The number of cars is not big so there is no car fumes. Even though Kediri has a Gudang Garam smoke factory, the people are aware to cope with cigarette smoke.
I suggest that you go to Kediri because you will find many new experiences that you may not find in other places. If I can add one thing, the transportation is arrange systematically, there is no motorbike weaving in and out of the traffic. But I really hope that local government will allocate the fund for providing a cycle lanes to cut down on traffic.
